Myron Elwood Denbrook Jr.
Myron E. Denbrook Jr., 89, Hibbing died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Heritage Manor in Chisholm. He was born on June 22, 1922 to Myron and Ida (Heusleman) Denbrook Sr., in Orrville, OH. Myron received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Washington in 1945 and became a partner in Wells, Denbrook, Adams, Wagner, Architects, PC in Grand Forks in 1948. Myron married Eve Mae Carter on April 14, 1945 in Columbus, OH. They lived in Seattle, Pullman, and Walla Walla, WA., and in 1947 came to Grand Forks, ND. In 1978, Wells, Denbrook, Adams, Wagner, Architects, PC joined forces with EAPC where Myron served as a Partner/Architect until 1992. Myron had an architectural reputation well recognized in the region. He had been very active in the Construction Specifications Institute including work as Chapter President and Technical Chairman. He had been the Project Architect for several major projects and is recognized for his architectural efforts and extremely accurate cost estimating procedures. Myron was known regionally for several notable achievements of area buildings including; the Chester Fritz Auditorium and the Chester Fritz Library which are both located on the University of North Dakota Campus in Grand Forks, ND., and more recently, the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN. Upon Myron’s initial retirement, he continued his work for EAPC into his mid 80’s. Myron was very active in Civic organizations throughout his career, he was a dedicated Lions Club Member for 50 plus years, and a very active member in his church.
He is survived by his son, Mark Denbrook, Hibbing, and his sister, Joan L. Denbrook, of Glendale, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eve, brother, Richard Denbrook, and special friend, Frances McCosh.
Per Myron’s request there will be a memorial service held at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the United Church of Christ in Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be held in Gallipolis, OH., at a later date. There will be a local social gathering on Saturday April 21, 2012, from 1:30--3 PM at the Hibbing Elks Lodge in the Androy. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Arrangements locally, are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
