Nancy Irene Nelson

Nancy I. Nelson, 80, lifetime Hibbing resident, passed away in Hibbing on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, surrounded by her family.  Nancy was born in Hibbing July 18, 1936 to Victor & Ruth Skog.  She married George Nelson on Sept. 5, 1953.  Nancy was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles, sewing and other crafts but, most of all, spending time with family and friends.  She worked for a time at Precision Industries and several years at Feldman’s Department Store, but her favorite times were always at home.  Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always available when her family had a need.

Nancy is survived by her children: Barb (Brad) Kruger of Bagley, MN; Russell (Patty) Nelson of Angora, MN; Stephanie (Mike) Ellett of Angora; Gail Nelson of Hibbing; Valerie (Jeff) Wollin of Grand Rapids, MN; a brother, Richard (Marie) Skog of Hibbing; a brother-in-law, Norman Nelson of Hibbing; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, and her sister, Elaine Irwin.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held at Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017.  The Rev. Darrell Nelson will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
