Nick James Jerulle
Nick J. Jerulle, 96, lifelong resident if Hibbing died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Hillcrest Parkside in Hibbing. He was born on April 20, 1921 to Ralph and Raffalina (Valente) Jerulle in Hibbing. Nick proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army as a cook. For over 50 years, Nick was self employed as a barber in Hibbing first taking clients at the Androy Hotel, and later across the street from Sammy’s Pizza on Howard Street. Nick was an honorary life member at the Hibbing Curling Club. He was a four time national curling champion. In 1962, his team placed 2nd in Perth, Scotland at the Scotch Cup, receiving silver medals for their accomplishment. He loved playing golf after retirement. He was also a dedicated member of the McDonald’s Coffee Club in Hibbing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his friends Sam and Louise Perrella, and his dear and longtime friend Bob Shock.
He is survived by his children, James J. (Linda) Jerulle, Eau Claire, WI, and Mike (Pamela) Jerulle, Hermantown, MN, brother, Paul Jerulle, Texas, sister, Conchetta (Ludwig) Deblak, Hibbing, MN, four grandchildren, Nick Jerulle, Proctor, MN, Joseph Jerulle, Duluth, MN, Joshua Jerulle, Eau Claire, WI, and James (Tammy) Jerulle Jr., Eau Claire, WI, great-grandchild, Jasmyn Jerulle, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lenore Jerulle, two brothers, Frank and Tony Jerulle, sister, Rose Clemens, and his special friend, Dottie McGorray.
Funeral services for Nick will be 11:00am, Monday, August 14, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the 11:00am funeral Mass at the church on Monday. A private family interment will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
