Norma E. Brown age 98 of Nashwauk passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at
Home and Comfort in Coleraine, MN. She was born July 2, 1926, in Detroit, MI to
Ralph and Mary (Elmes) Lind. Norma was a 1944 graduate of the Nashwauk High
School. On June 14, 1946, she was joined in marriage to William Brown, they
were married until Bill’s passing in 2008. She attended the Minnesota School of
Business. Norma served on the Nashwauk City Council and was the first women
mayor of Nashwauk. She was a very active life member of the American Legion
Auxiliary. Norma was also a member of the Golden Age Group and was active in
numerous community organizations. She served on the Nashwauk Bicentennial
Committee and was a member of the Community of Christ Church. She worked
briefly for Butler Brothers and worked at the office for the Eastern Itascan
Newspaper. Norma was interested in genealogy; stamp collecting and was known
for saving newspaper articles for her family and close friends. Norma was very
patriotic, she loved her country, community and her family. She is survived by her
daughters, Cynthia (Steve) Lolich, Jane (Jim) Rahne, Sarah (Roger) Gustafson,
sister Irene Cox, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, sister, Zona
Markovich and great grandson, Stephen Skundberg. Funeral services will be held
11 am Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Nashwauk United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be
held at the Nashwauk Cemetery.
