Norma Jean Greene

Norma Jean Greene, 87, Hermantown, formerly of Hibbing, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN.  She was born on April 28, 1929, to Ernest and Zulu (Cratsley) Root in Hubbard, OH.  Norma Jean united in marriage with Frank Greene on April 9, 1949, at the Presbyterian church in Hubbard, OH.  Norma had been a resident of Hibbing for the past 65 years.  Throughout her lifetime, she was employed with JcPenny’s, the Lincoln Junior High School in Hibbing, and most recently with Woolworth’s.  She was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing.  Norma was involved with their funeral committee, and a member of the Deborah Circle.  Norma was an avid traveler; she loved travelling the world with her husband Frank.  She enjoyed going to movies, she was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards with her friends.

Norma is survived by her husband, Frank Greene, Hermantown, MN; her three children: Sandra (Richard) Myers, Duluth, MN, Barbara Winston, Dallas, TX, and Frank (Kelly) Greene, Cumming, IA; and five grandchildren: Samara Vaccarella, Las Vegas, NV, Jesse (Janessa) Kringle, Hibbing, Kristian (Haley) Myers, Duluth, MN, Camren Greene, Chicago, IL, and Samuel Greene, Cumming, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Zulu (Cratsley) Root, and a brother, Harold Cratsley.

Funeral services for Norma will be held 11:00am, Saturday, October 8, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Lawrence Lee will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  The Greene family would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to hospice nurses; Sarah and Marie, and to Dr. Jan Baldwin M.D., and Dr. Keith Peterson M.D. for all of the exceptional and loving care that was given to Norma in the recent past.  Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
