Patricia Wivoda

Patricia Wivoda, 85, Hibbing, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 in Minneapolis, MN.  She was born April 1, 1930 in Hibbing, the daughter of William and Dora Herrett.  Pat married Maurice Wivoda in Hibbing on Feb. 13, 1948.  They made their home in Hibbing and then in 1993 they moved to their lake home on Tank Lake.  It was there that Pat was able to enjoy the outdoors she loved, including mowing their lawn, watching the birds and squirrels and taking in the sunsets.  She had worked at the Hibbing Hospital as a dietary aid, had worked as a sales clerk for Hallock’s Clothiers and also was a teacher’s aid at the Cobb Cook School.  She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and its’ circles and also volunteered on the Hibbing election board.  Other interest outside the home included traveling and spending time in some of the local casinos.  It was in her home where Pat was known to be at her best.  Whether listening to the people she cared about most, reading, enjoying the music that the family made or the almost 12 months out of the year that she wanted to celebrate Christmas and the decorating that went with it,  Pat truly loved her family and her home.

She is survived by her husband Maurice, her children; Sandra Rootes of Hibbing, Gerry Wivoda of Cohasset, MN, William (Crystal) Wivoda of Hibbing, her brother Randy Herrett of Hibbing, sisters in law; Frances Fuller of Fairbanks, AK and Gloria Oikari of Balkan,  MN, 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Thomas Wivoda, her son in law Joe Rootes, a brother in law Roland Wivoda and a sister in law Betty Wivoda.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.  The Rev. Kevin Olson will officiate.  Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
