Peggy Cecelia (Doherty) DePetro
Peggy C. DePetro, 75, Buhl, formerly of Nashwauk, died of natural causes Sunday, December 30, 2012, in her home. She was born in Hibbing on September 28, 1937, to James and Violet Doherty. She grew up in Buhl, graduated from the Hibbing High School in 1955, and then attended Hibbing Junior College and St. Cloud State University before becoming a homemaker, and devoted loving mother to raising her four children. Peggy had lived in Nashwauk for many years and in Buhl for the past two years. Peggy was a 51 year member of American Legion Post 307 Ladies Auxiliary in Nashwauk, a former member of the Hibbing Elks Club, the Hibbing Curling Club, and St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk where she was an active volunteer, and recently a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm. Peggy enjoyed the little things in life; spending time with family and friends, watching her grandchildren grow up, and being involved with everything they did.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia DePetro of Minneapolis, MN, Joseph DePetro of North Carolina; Leslie Scenna of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Peggy Ann (Everett) Bonneville of Nashwauk, MN; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her best friend, Jeanette Grell, of Nashwauk, MN, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Violet (Mayala) Doherty; a sister, and by Anthony DePetro
Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2013, from 10-11 AM in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. Rev. Fr. Fred Method and Rev. Fr. Dennis Hoffman will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. The Mass will be 11 AM Monday in the church. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Buhl. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren; Chad and Anthony Nicholls, Joseph, Mathew, and James DePetro, Mario and Alina Scenna, Andrea and Stephanie Bonneville, and her great-grandchildren, Holden and Haven Nicholls, and Zoe Nicholls.
