Peter J. Davich
Peter J. Davich, 97, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Diamond Willow Assisted Living Facility in Little Falls, MN. He had been a resident of Diamond Willow in Little Falls, since moving there in May of 2015 from Hibbing.
Peter was born on June 28, 1918 to Nick and Anna (Petek) Davich in Hibbing. He graduated from Hibbing High School in 1937. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940 reaching the rank of SGT while being assigned to Ordnance and Bomb disposal. He proudly served his country for 5 years in Europe and Pacific during WWII.
Upon returning to Hibbing, MN after the war, Peter worked as a shovel operator for the Scranton Mine, and also tended bar at the Old Howard and the Hibbing Elks Lodge.
Peter was a quiet, kind, generous, humorous, and wonderful uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and playing golf at the Municipal Course in Hibbing.
Peter is survived by his brother Joe Davich, Hibbing, special caretakers; niece Jean Davich, nephew, Dean Davich, and Joe Davich Jr., and many more nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul & Steve Davich, sisters, Mary Novak, and Rose DeZurik, and his furry friends Charles, Chico, and Rosie.

Funeral services for Peter will be held at 11:00am, Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Nick Nelson will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing, with wake prayers at 7:00pm. The visitation will continue from 10:00am until the 11:00am funeral Mass at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Pallbearers are; Pete DeZurik, Bob DeZurik, John Savre, and Richard Wagner. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
