Peter J. Saccoman, age 83, of Nashwauk, passed away Wednesday June 26, 2019 in his home. Peter was born July 12, 1935 to Sam and Lena (Aimonetti) Saccoman in Nashwauk, MN. In 1957 Peter joined the U.S. Army serving for 11 years. He worked on the first ambulance as well as the fire department in Nashwauk and was a part time police officer for 30 years. Peter was a member of the American Legion Post 307 for 50 years serving as a Commander in the post. He worked as a foreman for Itasca County for 38 years. Peter was also an Emergency Manager for the City of Nashwauk. He was a lifelong resident of Nashwauk and member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. Peter enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a MN State King for TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly). Peter also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lena, his wife Evelyn (Scaia) Saccoman and his sister-in-law, Joanne Saccoman. Peter is survived by his daughter, Danielle “Dawnie” Saccoman, Grand Rapids, MN, brother, Frank Saccoman, Bemidji, MN, many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends, he is also survived by his Angels and caregivers, Tammie Sumner, Gidget Rustad, Amanda Perryman and Kim Heye. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. The Reverend Father Joseph Sobolik will officiate. Interment will be held at the Nashwauk Cemetery. Mid-Range Honor Guard will accord military honors.
