Philip Arthur Haverkamp, 73, longtime resident of Hibbing passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

Philip was born on June 8th, 1951, in Hibbing, Minnesota to Arthur and Dorothy (Olson) Haverkamp. He and his family moved to Detroit Lakes, MN for 14 years, and later returned to Hibbing in 1968. Philip was employed as a truck driver for Hibbing Taconite, retiring after 30 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to go fishing and hunting. Philip took care of the wildlife animals by always feeding them when they came around. He also was a very talented woodworker.

He is survived by his sister, Fayette (Gerald) Gibson of Hibbing, MN; his niece, Crystal Dombrovske of Hibbing, MN; his nephew, Travis Gibson of Hibbing, MN; his grand-nieces, Fanci Williams and Ceelie Gibson; and his grand-nephews, Sir Williams and Channer Gibson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services for Philip will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing, Minnesota. The Rev. Dan Scally will officiate. A brunch will be held immediately following the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota at a later date.
