Phyllis A. Johnson

Phyllis A. Johnson, 85, Hibbing, died Friday August 31, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.  She was born in Mitchell, MN to Hugh and Bessie (Lang) Masterson on November 21, 1932.  She enjoyed Casino trips, playing bingo at the Tourist Center and visiting with friends and fellow Brooklynites at Checco’s Tavern.  She loved being involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Phyllis had been employed at Ameripride, and was proud of the fact she still was working at Dental Health Service. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Kevin (Kelly Flesche) Johnson, Plymouth, MN, and Kelly’s children, Matthew and Adam Flesche, and Jennifer (Troy) Hedtke & their children Jacob and Morgan, Brian Johnson of Wayzata, Kristen (Bryan) Vesel, Nashwauk, and their children and grandchildren, Bryanne (William Jr) Fredette, and their children Jordan and Allie, and Jesse (Michelle) Vesel and their children Dylan, Owen, and Nora, and Scott (Monica) Johnson, Mpls., and their child Olivia, and her brother Robert Masterson, Proctor, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, siblings, James, Patricia, Jean, and Janet, and her parents.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at St. Luke’s 6 West Intensive Care Cardiac Unit, especially Doctor Vunnamadala for their outstanding care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am., Saturday September 8, 2018 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Beau Braun celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Friday in the Dougherty Funeral Home and continue at 10:00 am Saturday at the Church.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
