Quentin Franklyn Roth
Quentin Franklyn Roth, died Monday, March 14, 2016 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, MN. He was delivered to Frank and Martha (DeRousseau) Roth on Oct. 2, 1936 in Hibbing, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, attended Assumption Catholic School and Hibbing High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and upon returning home, worked various jobs; retiring as a Staff Representative for AFSCME Council #65. He and his wife, Carole, owned and operated the Keg and Kettle in Keewatin for several years and then moved to Pengilly, MN. In 2001 the couple went full time RV’ing and later lived in Arizona for 5 years, returning to Minnesota in 2012. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer (getting a hole in one on #5 at the Swan Lake Country Club). He spent much time at the cabin on Long Lake and thoroughly enjoyed being on the pontoon looking for fish. He was a life member of the Keewatin VFW Post 5516 and a member of the Chisholm American Legion Post 0247, as well as the AFSCME Council #65 retiree group. He belonged to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm, MN
He is survived by his wife Carole, children: Michele Roth, Darrin (Charlene) Roth and Kevin Roth, all of Hibbing, MN, Sheila (Craig) Lempia of Virginia, MN, Brett (Shosty) Roth of Nashwauk, MN, Connie (Jim) Ames of Keizer, OR, Quentin N. (Jacinta) Roth of Duluth, MN and Chan (Tracey) Scholz of St. Paul, MN, a brother Allister (Bev) Roth of Puyallup, WA, a sister Leona (Roy) Dayon of Minneapolis, MN as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews and his little buddy Rocky, the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister, Maxine Bianco, brother Jerome Roth and sister Mary Ardell Kushman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March, 21, 2016 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Hibbing. Visitation will be in the church, Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing, with military honors accorded by the Mid Range Honor Guard.
