Ralph J. Olson
Ralph J. Olson, 57, Hibbing, died Saturday February 11, 2012, at his home after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Ely, MN on Feb. 24, 1954, to LaVerne and Regina Olson. He provided for his family as a logger in Isabella, MN. During the Vietnam War, he served his country as a US Army tank gunner stationed in Germany. Ralph was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and living in the rugged environment of Northern Minnesota.
He is survived by his children: Chris Olson of Superior, WI, Cheryl Olson, and Cassidy Olson both of Duluth; his grandchildren: Calvin of Duluth, and Andrew and Holley Olson both of Superior, WI; his siblings: Corky Olson, Natalie, Vicki, Michael Olson, and last but not least, his loving partner and caregiver, Sandra “Minnie” Voss, and her grandchildren, Janessa and Jaxen Greski. He was preceded in death by his parents LaVerne and Regina Olson.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday February 24, 2012, in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Visitation will be Friday from 1—2 PM in the funeral home.
