Raymond N. Koppes, 86, longtime resident of Buck Lake died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN. He was born on February 9, 1929 to Raymond N. and Clara (Etzler) Koppes Sr. in Bertha, MN. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post of Nashwauk, his local VFW Post, and the Buck Lake Improvement Club. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, his woodworking, and especially putzing in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Setinich) Koppes, his children, Larry (Jackie) Koppes, Diane (Loran) Tardy, and Nancy (Paul) Stanina, all of Buck Lake, his step-children, Debbie (Corky Smith) Setinich, St. Paul, MN, Elizabeth (Rick) King, Warba, MN, Barbara (Ralph Skoglund) Block, Blackberry, MN, Jackie (Lewis) Pochucha, Goodland, MN, and Mark Setinich, Isanti, MN, his siblings, Gerald Koppes, St. Paul, MN, Richard (Jean) Koppes, Staples, MN, and Marie (Paul) Marte, Browerville, MN, eight grandchildren, Tony (Lauren) Koppes, Matt (Stacy Hansen) Koppes, Loran Tardy Jr., Eric (Alicia) Tardy, Robert (Tabby) Stanina, Shane Stanina, Franki Stanina, and Nick Rautio, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death his son, Duane “Dewey” Koppes in 2012, his first wife, Deloris, his parents, Raymond Sr., and Clara, two brothers, Lawrence and Harold Koppes.

Funeral services for Raymond will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. The Rev. Fr. Seth Gogolin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held from 11:30am until the 1:00pm Mass at the church on Saturday. A private family interment will take place at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing following the reception at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
