Reeda R. Valla, 82, Meadowlands, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at her home. She was born to Frank and Elizabeth Heinbuecher in Aurora, IL on August 8, 1930 and had lived in the Meadowlands area for over 65 years. Reeda married Frank Valla at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Meadowlands on August 28, 1948. She was a lifetime member of the Meadowlands Jr. Lodge #361 and the VFW Auxiliary Kral-Matha-Peterson Post #3044. Reeda was a homemaker, worked the dairy farm including haymaking and also bussed Head Start Children and was a Bulk Mail Carrier for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Meadowlands.
Reeda will be missed by her children, Frank (Sherry) Valla, Hibbing, Victoria (Gerald Wick) Ridge, Toivola, James Valla, Toivola, Joan (Terrence) Husnik, Pine City, Judy (Ed Colclasure) Kortekaas, Meadowlands, and Patricia (Henry) Skahl, Hibbing, two sisters, Eva (Wendell) Fowler, Aurora, IL, and Sarah (Gene) Goldsmith, Plano, IL, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and special friend, Thomas Hoffman, Sandwich, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Valla, on August 1, 2002, her parents, sister, Priscilla Dunkin and brother, Everett Heinbuecher.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Monday, November 26, 2012 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Meadowlands with the Rev. Fr. Peter Lambert celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. Sunday in St. Mary’s Church and continue Monday for one hour before Mass. Burial will be in Meadowlands Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
