Richard John “Rick” Bartol
Richard J. “Rick” Bartol, 70, Kitzville, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in his home. He was born in Hibbing on June 6, 1944, to Rudolph and Mary Bartol. Rick graduated from Hibbing High School and Dunwoody Institute. He worked as a machinist for several years at Arcometal in Minneapolis. Rick and LeAnn Kussatz were united in marriage on Jan. 28, 1967, and they made their home in Nashwauk and later in Kitzville. Rick worked locally as a machinist for Temco and later Component Machine Service. He loved trout fishing the rivers of Lake Superior’s North Shore as well as the rivers and streams of Northern Michigan with his own hand-tied lures. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the shack.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, LeAnn, of Kitzville; three children: Janelle Lund of Hibbing, Bryan (Wendy) Bartol of Britt, and Chris Ann (Brian Sheehan) Bartol of Los Gatos, CA; seven grandchildren: Ryley, Olivia, and Ethan Lund, Jared Schultz, Owen Bartol, and Dominic and Lucia Sheehan; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Creighton.
Visitation will be Thursday Nov. 20, 2014, from 10—11 AM in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday in the funeral home. The Rev. Kevin Olson will officiate.
