Richard Michael Jatso

Richard M. Jatso, 85, Hibbing died Monday, October 3, 2016, at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids, MN.  He was born on July 11, 1931, to Michael and Sophie (Gersich) Jatso in Chisholm, MN.  He was a graduate of Chisholm High School, class of 1949.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.  Richard had been a resident of Hibbing since 1958, coming from Chisholm.  He was employed as a maintenance mechanic for M.A. Hanna.  He was a member of Hibbing Catholic Community, the Hibbing Elk’s Lodge, the last original member of the Diaper’s Dive, and the 9:30am coffee group at Hardee’s.  He enjoyed fishing, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Rick (Annie) Jatso, Maple Grove, MN; a sister, Betty Leketz, Hoyt Lakes, MN; three grandchildren, Michael Jatso, Ryan Jatso, and Lily Jatso, all of Maple Grove, MN; two sisters-in-law, Zorrie Lux, St. Claire Shores, MI, and Georgia Cicmil, Honolulu, HI; a  brother-in-law, George (Anita) Cicmil, Side Lake; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Dana Jatso, in 2014; and by infant twins, Joseph and Mary Jatso.

Funeral services for Richard will be 11 AM, Friday, October 21, 2016, at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Frank Perkovich will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Friday.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
