Richard J. Kasner

Richard J. Kasner, 70, Hibbing, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 in his home.  He was born Oct. 30, 1942 in Minneapolis, the son of Lloyd and Dorothy Kasner.  He married Lorali Swoboda on Feb. 2, 1963 and made their home in Hibbing since 1967, where he was a partner in Ryan Kasner Ryan Financial Services, Inc.  He was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church.  He served as coordinator of retreats to the Jesuit Retreat House at Demontreville which he took part in for 45 years.  He was a past member and president of the Hibbing Rotary Club, had served on the ISD #701 School Board for two terms, was a past board member of the University Medical Center and was the Titan of Taconite for the Winter Frolic.  He was also a member of the MDRT and spent countless hours enjoying the game of golf at the Mesaba Country Club.
He is survived by his wife Lorali, sons; Michael (Karen) Kasner of Orono, MN, and their children Peter, John and Joseph; Mark (Deborah) Kasner of Medina, MN, and their children Maggie, Nick, Leah and Hannah, Dan (Sarah DeVries) Kasner of Minneapolis, MN, with children Andrew and Benjamin, and his daughter Gretchen (Mark) Bliese of Maple Grove, MN and their children Noah and Livia his brother Thomas (Sue) Kasner of Apple Valley, MN and his sister Nancy Peterson of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Gwen Cyr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  The Rev. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Dougherty Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time, Tuesday in the church.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.  Honorary pallbearers are: Tony Caucci, Tony Greaton, O.J. Bottoms, Jack Ryan, Chris Bialke and Kent Salo.  Memorials are preferred to North Star Hospice or the Central Mesabi Medical Foundation.
