Richard E. Morelli, 69, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at home with his family by his side. He was born on April 11, 1944, to Zosimo and Regina (Fumanti) Morelli in Hibbing. He attended Hibbing schools and later was employed with Erie Mining Company for 11 years. Richard entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Susan Starc on November 5, 1966 in Eveleth. He most recently was employed with Hibbing Taconite as a Loader Operator, retiring after 25 years of service. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, music was his joy, whether listening to music or playing his favorite guitar it was his passion.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Morelli, Hibbing, son, Michael R. Morelli, Eveleth, MN, daughter, Wendi S. (David) Jones, Isanti, MN, four sisters, Adeline VonFeldt, Rochester, MN, Loretta (John) Pagliaccetti, Buhl, MN, Donna Ritacco, Virginia, MN, and Caryl Potenza, Virginia, MN, four grandchildren, Myles Gangness, Chloe Jones, Steven Jones, and Patrick Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zosimo and Regina (Fumanti) Morelli, three brothers, Robert Fumanti, Irving Morelli, and Eddie Morelli, and three sisters, Marlyne Morris, Geraldine Oliveri, and Jean Ferrari.
Funeral services for Richard will be held at 11:00am, Monday, May 6, 2013 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Monday. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
