Richard “Dick” Palcich
Richard "Dick" Palcich, 78, Hibbing, died Monday, August 8, 2016, at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids. He was born and raised in Chisholm, the son of Kate and Frank Palcich, and was a lifelong resident of Hibbing.
After graduating from Chisholm High School in 1956, he attended Bemidji State University, graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He touched the lives of many students in his near 40 year career as a Hibbing elementary school teacher at the Brooklyn and Greenhaven schools.
Dick had a passion for the outdoors, mainly fishing and deer hunting at the "shack" with his uncle, cousins, and friends. He enjoyed playing the bugle at parades across the Iron Range in the Chisholm Drum and Bugle Corps. He loved spending time with his family, often going on fishing trips and road trips across the country.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Jim) Evans, of Plano, TX; a son, Scott (Danielle) Palcich, of Washington, DC; a sister, Barbara (Paul) Johnson, of Portland, OR; his ex-wife and caregiver, MaryAnne Palcich, of Hibbing; and many relatives and close friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing on
