Robert John “Red” Elhardt
Robert John “Red” Elhardt, 82, Perch Lake, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing.  He was born at home in Minneapolis on Oct. 19, 1931, to Fred and Eva Elhardt.  Red served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1951—1957.  After being honorably discharged, Red worked as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers’ Union, local #10.  He married Verona Larson Carlstrom on July 24, 1983, in Bear River, M N and they made their home on Perch Lake.  Red was a talented craftsman and woodworker.  When he retired, he worked as a carpenter for several years.  He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Verona, of Perch Lake; by four children:  Mike (Rebecca) Elhardt of Bear River, Mark (MaryBeth) Elhardt of Ramsey, MN, Steven (Debra) Elhardt of Maple Grove, MN, and Cheryl (Kris) Walters of Hibbing; by four step-children:  Kevin (Sheri) Carlstrom of Fort Wayne, IN, Kraig (Dawn) Carlstrom of Corcoran, MN, Kory (Tiffany) Carlstrom of Andover, MN, and Kalie (Jim) Windingstad of Stacy, MN; by a sister, Lois Hemmingson of Shoreview, MN; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers, Marlin, Richard and Harold.
A celebration of Red’s life will be held at his home, 7630 Pine Tree Road, Side Lake, MN, on Saturday, July 26, 2014, from 3—6PM.  Funeral arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com.
