Robert L. Wiener, 88, longtime resident of Kelly Lake, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. He was born on October 6, 1924 to Casper and Susan (Altoff) Wiener in Red Lake Falls, MN. He was the Owner and Operator of West Howard Body Shop in Hibbing. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing, the Trailblazers and Swampsiders Snowmobile Clubs, and the Loyal Order Moose Club in Hibbing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and feeding and watching birds.
He is survived by his three sons, Ronald J. (Marie) Wiener, Maumee, OH., Rick (J.V.) Wiener, Hibbing, and Russell (Dorothy) Wiener, Kelly Lake, MN., two daughters, Carol (Noel) Nerland, Somerville, TN., and Audrey (Michael) Sparby, Hibbing, brother, Jerome (Lila) Wiener, Babbitt, MN., three sisters, Marion (Orville) Jopru, Doreen Dargon, both of Thief River Falls, MN., and Joan Vake, Chisholm, MN., fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice J. (Strand) Wiener, parents, Casper and Susan (Altoff) Wiener, three sisters, Cleo St. Martin, Gladys Johnson, and Grace Vake, and two brothers, Stanley and James Wiener.
Funeral services for Robert will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Anthony Craig will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 10:30am until the noon Mass at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
