Ron Kolden, 55, passed away on June 28, 2024, in his home. Having recently suffered a heart attack, Ron was hoping to continue cardiac rehab, maintain his diabetes, feel better, and enjoy the summer. This sudden loss is devastating to his closest family and friends. Ron was born July 17, 1968, in Hibbing to Carrol and Marilyn Kolden. He graduated from HHS in 1986; afterwards he enlisted and served in the United States Navy.
Ron, a car enthusiast, was a talented auto mechanic He frequently went to the races and watched Nascar at every chance. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors in nature. "Uncle Ronnie" loved going out for wings with his nephews, embarrassing them and their friends, and telling a good joke. But nothing topped his ability to down a king-size prime rib at Wooden Table. His weekly routine consisted of having breakfast with "Ma" each Tuesday and Saturday, helping Punky out with projects, and being with his neighbors.
He is survived by his mother Marilyn Kolden and his brothers Richard (Anamarie) Kolden and Punky (Lori) Kolden; three nephews Andy Kolden, Austen (Kayla) Kolden, and Zakk (Toni) Bandemer, and one niece Sydney Howell; two great-nephews Fritz Kolden and Arlo Kolden; many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Ron was predeceased by his father Carrol Kolden.
Services will be Friday, July 5, 2024, with visitation at 10:00, funeral at 11:00, military honors at cemetery, and luncheon afterwards. All services will be at Open Door Church with Pastor Brent Theien officiating. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
