Ronald "Ron" P. Krier

Ronald Krier, 85, longtime resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl, MN. He was born October 6, 1939, to George and Rose (Ruzynski) Krier in Hibbing. Ron Graduated from Hibbing High School and later completed a Bachlors Degree in Biology at UMD. He was married to Diane Jerkovich on April 4, 1964, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hibbing. He went on to teach Biology and General Science from 1965 to 1969 in Wisconsin and returned to Hibbing and worked for US Steel in the Radio shop until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Hibbing Rifle and Pistol Club. Ron enjoyed many outdoor activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and loved gardening. After he retired, he and Diane traveled to the Galapagos Islands, Machu Picchu in Peru, participated in an archeological dig in Belize and traveled from the north of Mexico into Guatemala following the Maya Route among other places.

Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane Krier of Hibbing, MN; son, Michael Krier of Hibbing, MN; daughter, Julie Krier of Ely, MN; sister, Pauline (David) Maloney of Dubuque, IA; grandchildren, Mike and Kieran Hall of Duluth, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Norbert, and George Krier; sisters, Rosemary Baron, and Betty Braden.

Funeral Services for Ron will be at 12:00PM Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. Rev. Bill Skarich will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until 12:00PM at the church. Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery. The Funeral will be livestreamed to YouTube and the Parish Facebook Page.
