Ronald F. Steinbrink

Ronald F. Steinbrink, 92, lifelong resident of Hibbing passed away Saturday December 30, 2017 at home in Hibbing surrounded by his family.  Ronald was born October 19, 1925 to Fred H. and Annie E. (Larson) Steinbrink in Hibbing.  Ronald was a graduate of Hibbing High School in 1943.  After school, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force being honorably discharged on October 24, 1945 from AAF Separation Base RAAF in Roswell, New Mexico.  Later Ronald received a private pilot certificate and enjoyed flying for many years.  On July 1, 1949 Ronald started working at the DNR Lands and Minerals Department in Hibbing as an Engineering Aide.  After more than 38 years of service, he retired as a Senior Mining Engineer.  In 1950, Ronald married Norma Jean Williams of Hibbing.  They celebrated 60 years of marriage together until her death in 2011.  Ronald was a continuous member of American Legion Post 222 for 61 years.  Ronald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending summers at the family cabin on Perch Lake.

He is survived by his children, Daniel J. Steinbrink, Janelle (Mike) Kniffin, and Colleen (Steve) Majkich, all of Hibbing, six grandchildren, Matthew (Marie) Steinbrink, Hugo, MN, Meghan Rossini, Hibbing, Michael Kniffin, Hibbing, Krista (Shane) Holman, Pengilly, MN, Kacie and Kaylie Majkich, and five great-grandchildren, Logan, Lucia, Lane, River, and Knox.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma in 2011, parents, and his brother Kenneth Steinbrink.

Per Ron’s request there will be a private funeral ceremony held at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Terry Tilton will officiate.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Memorials are preferred to Fairview Hospice.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
