Ronnie Burt
Ronnie Burt, 68, Nashwauk, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth after a courageous seven year battle with cancer.  He was born at home in LeFlore County, OK on February 24, 1945, to John and Wilma Burt.  Ron and Bonnie Truax were united in marriage in Las Vegas on December 27, 1975, after a three week courtship.  They made their home in Nashwauk and Ron worked in mining construction for thirty years and then for ten years at Hibbing Taconite.  He enjoyed football, fishing and hunting, but he loved his family above all else, especially his grandchildren.  Ron loved to host holiday gatherings and in years past would entertain friends and family by playing his guitar.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bonnie, of Nashwauk; three children:  Uthana (Greg) Lowe of Muldrow, OK, Christina (Kirk) Liesmaki of Hibbing, and Jason (Lynette) Burt of Muldrow, OK; six grandchildren:  Loren and Brycen Lowe, Alli and Piper Liesmaki, and Gage and Rebecca Burt; a sister, Margaret Ann (Gene) Holt of Gore, OK; his identical twin brother, Lonnie (Berna) Burt of Sallisaw, OK; his mother-in-law, Patricia Truax of Hibbing; five sisters-in-law: Carol Burt of Shelby Township, MI, Debbie (Bob) Waara of Hibbing, Mary White of Virginia, and Lori (Jon) Ozzello of Chisholm and Kathleen (Russ) Freyholtz of Grand Rapids; a very special brother-in-law, Michael (Juanita) Truax of Two Harbors; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents; by an infant sister, Joyce Ann Burt; by brothers John Burt and Glen Burt; and by his father-in-law, Mervin Truax.
Visitation will be Tuesday February 4, 2014, at Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, from 11 AM until the 12 Noon funeral service.  Uthana Lowe will officiate.  Interment will be at a later date.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com.
