Rose Marie Martire Dolinar
Rose Marie Martire Dolinar, 94, Hibbing, died Friday, December 20, 2013, at Hillcrest Parkside in Hibbing. She was born on May 11, 1919, to Eugenio and Luiginna Martire in Nashwauk. She grew up in Nashwauk and moved to Hibbing in 1941. In those years, she was the lead vocalist in the local band The Swing Kings. While working as a waitress at Foley’s Café, she met Frank Dolinar. They were united in marriage on May 12, 1943 at Immaculate Conception Church and made their home in Nelson Location and later Hibbing. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Italian American Club and the Slovenian Women’s Union. She was proud of her Italian heritage and loved to cook for her family.
Rose is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Merrill of Hibbing; two sons, Frank “Butch” (Kathy) Dolinar, Jr. of Arden Hills, MN and Michael Dolinar of Hibbing; a sister, Mary Gabardi of Hibbing; grandchildren Meghann and Adam, a step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren, Madison ORse and Randi; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1995; by her parents, and brothers Orlando, Tony, Joe, and Edward “Shine” Martire.
Her family will celebrate her life with visitation on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral Mass.
