Rose M. (Maras) Fink
Rose M. Fink, 96, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Friday, August 1, 2014 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Rose was born on March 29, 1918 to Philip and Louise (Barich) Maras in Hibbing. She was a graduate of the Hibbing High School class of 1936. She married Louis Frank Fink of Chisholm, on June 28, 1948.
Her life career was devoting herself as a fabulous wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a great sense of humor and a passion for people. Rosie made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed telling everyone about her granddaughter Tiffany’s world travels. Rose was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing and in her early years volunteered as a Catechism teacher. She enjoyed writing letters in Croatian to the Maras’ and Barich’s in Baric Draga, Croatia, teaching and speaking Croation to anyone who would listen, and sharing ancestral family stories. She was very proud of her heritage and growing up in Hibbing.
She is survived by her three children, John Louis Fink, Hibbing, Marlene (Roger) Harrington, White Bear Lake Twp., MN, and Carol (Gregory) Clark, St. Paul, MN, her granddaughter, Tiffany Clark, New York, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis in 1998, infant daughter, brother, Paul “Butch” Maras, and three sisters, Kate, Jenny, and Mary Louise.
Funeral services for Rose will be held at 11:30am, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Chruch in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Brian Lederer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the 11:30am Mass at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing, or St. Peter Claver School in St. Paul, MN. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
