Rose M. Gilbert, 80, Hibbing died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm.  She was born on September 30, 1932, to Steve and Nellie (Hebert) Skalsky in Hibbing.  She entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Donald W. Gilbert on June 17, 1950, in Hibbing at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  Rose was employed at the Kahler as an evening hostess for 14 years.  She also held waitressing jobs at many restaurants throughout Hibbing for many years.   She finished her working career with TLC Cleaning in 2003. Rose achieved her GED in 1984.  She was an avid reader.  She enjoyed camping in her earlier years, taking trips to the casino, traveling to Minneapolis with her daughters, attending Twins games, and she especially loved watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her husband,  Donald Gilbert, Hibbing; her son, Dave Gilbert, Hibbing; daughters, Diane (Roger) Van Dyke, Hermantown, MN, and Donna (Jesse) Radika, Silica, MN; brothers, Doug (Pat) Skalsky, Kelly Lake, Clement Skalsky, Keewatin, and Jerome Skalsky, Wisconsin; her seven grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer)Van Dyke, Sarah (Aaron) Dass, Zachary (Miranda) Gilbert, Zeb (Trista) Gilbert, Nick (Carmen) Gilbert, Ryan Lind, and Katie Lind; her six great-grandchildren, Domonic, Avalon, Hannah, Elliott, Julia, and Logan, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Nellie (Hebert) Skalsky; three brothers: Steve, Robert, and Billy Skalsky, and three sisters: Nellie Perella, Agnes Lahti, and Threasa Allison.
Funeral services for Rose will be 11:00am, Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  Steve Tomberlin will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Rose’s family would like to Thank Heritage Manor for the exceptional and compassionate care that was given to Rose over the past six months.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
