Rose Mary Koivisto
Rose M. Koivisto, 90, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born on June 15, 1923 to Mike and Angela (Lenarich) Sersich in Chisholm, MN. Rose spent much of her childhood in Keewatin, graduating from the Robert L. Downing High School in Keewatin. She entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Robert N. Koivisto on May 25, 1946 in Keewatin. Soon thereafter they moved to Hibbing.
Rose was working at Edwards Bakery on Howard Street when she met Bob. She was a wonderful homemaker and volunteered her entire life at various places throughout town. She volunteered at the local nursing homes, the Greyhound Bus Museum, and the Mine View to list a few. She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Hibbing, and the local church group at St. Leo’s. Rose’s pastimes included; bingo, playing cards, music, gardening, traveling with her husband Bob, and she was also known for her baking, especially her pies. Rose was the epitome of Kindness.
She is survived by her children Rosemary Webb, Alexandria, VA, Robert (Sarah) Koivisto, Collins, MS, Carol (Tom) Tyler, Hibbing, Barbara (James) Lampley, Austin, TX, and Everett (Patti) Koivisto, Great Falls, MT, her sister, Violet Galletto, Hibbing, grandchildren, Kelli (Chris) Larrick, Todd (Jenny) Webb, Brian (Jodi) Tyler, Mara Tyler, Meghan Tyler, Tyler (Jillian) Lampley, and Rachel (Rey) Lopez, great-grandchildren, Jack, Hope, Andrew, Madison, Gretchen, Bridget, Cameron, Alanna, Eijah, Alexander, Adrian, and Evalina, and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert N. Koivisto in 1987, her brother and sister-in-law, John (Rose) Sersich, brother-in-law, Vince Galletto, and her son-in-law, Keith Webb.
Funeral services for Rose will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Brian Lederer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.
