Rose Mary (Miskulin) Matonich

Rose M. Matonich, 93, lifelong resident of Hibbing, went home to be with her Lord and  Savior Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Hillcrest Alice in Hibbing, MN.  She was born on September 24, 1924 to Matt and Helen (Vucicich) Miskulin in Hibbing.  She graduated from the Hibbing High School, and later Hibbing Junior College.  Rose’s career involved working for the Hibbing school district as an executive secretary at Hibbing High School for the Principal and also having the position of secretary to the Dean of Boys for some time.   She was a stalwart at the high school retiring with over 25 years of service.  Her career was very important to her as she even kept tabs on things after she had gone.  She would later volunteer at Hibbing hospital after her husband died in 1992.  Rose was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Hibbing, Business Professional Women, and the Catholic Foresters.  She enjoyed needlepoint, cross stitch, tending to her roses, gardening, and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her son, Paul (Laura) Matonich, Ada, MI, brother, George (Carrie) Miskulin, Chisholm, two beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Matonich, Chicago, IL, and Sophie Matonich, Ada, MI, and several nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her son, Mark Matonich, husband, Louis G. Matonich in 1992, and her parents, Matt and Helen Miskulin.

Funeral services for Rose will be 11:00am, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Beau Braun will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Blessed Sacrament Church.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
