Rose Sersich

Rose A. Sersich, 82, longtime resident of Hibbing died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilation Center in Hibbing. The 12th of 13 children, Rose was born on May 25, 1930 to Matt and Martha (Magavac) Mazich in Chisholm, MN. Rose started her married life at Bennett Location in Keewatin and moved to Hibbing in 1950. She was employed as a Dietary Secretary for the Hibbing General Hospital and later with the Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing, retiring after 25 years of service. Rose was also a dedicated homemaker and caring for her family was very important to her. She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Hibbing, the CCW, and the Hibbing Hospital Auxiliary. Rose enjoyed dancing at the Knights of Columbus Hall dances with her husband, and in her later years at Hillcrest Parkside with her friends.
She is survived by her four children, John (Kathie Campos) Sersich, Iron Mountain, MI., Roseann (Tim) Gargano, Hibbing, Mary (David) LeRoux, Eden Prairie, MN., and James Sersich, Hibbing, her brother, Mike, and sister, Daina, her nine grandchildren, Jason, Lisa, Derek, Kasey, Jennifer, Michael, James, Austin, and Joshua, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Violet Galletto and Rose Koivisto, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Sersich, four sisters, six brothers, and her son-in-law, Robert “Butch” Hamre.
Funeral services for Rose will be 11:00am, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Memorials are preferred to the Fairview University Medical-Center Foundation or the donor’s choice.
