Rose M. Zygmanski
Rose M. Zygmanski, lifelong resident of Hibbing, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the Virginia Convalescent Center in Virginia, MN, on the morning of her 98th birthday.  She was born in Hibbing and attended local schools. Her baccalaureate and graduate degrees were received from the College of St. Catherine and the University of Minnesota, respectively. Rose taught music, English, and French in several area schools, eventually retiring from the Nashwauk-Keewatin district. She also maintained a private piano studio through which she shared her passion for music and music making with hundreds of pupils through the decades.  She was a member of the Hibbing Catholic Community and was fuelled by the spirit of volunteerism and sharing.  She was a member of Hibbing Musicale, a former president of the Minnesota Federation of Music Clubs, and she also represented MN at the National Federation of Music Clubs.  Rose was a member of the Historical Society, the Hibbing Kiwanis Golden “K” Club, Friends of the Hibbing Public Library, and the hospital auxiliary for many years.  She was also an avid world traveler during her lifetime.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Angela (Walter) Strasser, Hibbing, her nephew, John (Susan) Bradac, Mt. Pleasant, MI., and her niece, Jane (William) Hamilton, Rosebush, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maria Concetta (Varriano) Marinelli; husband, Leo Zygmanski; and her three sisters, Anne Marinelli, Angela Marinelli, and Mary Bradac.
Funeral services for Rose will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Thursday.  Internment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  Pallbearers are Gene Sandberg, Dale Robinson, David Perell, and Mark DeMillo.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Hibbing Public Library or the Hibbing Historical Society.
