Roy Edward Gustavsson, 53, of Duluth and formerly of Hibbing, died Nov. 6, 2013, at his home.
He was born on April 8, 1960 in Cook to John and Margaret (Groh) Gustavsson. He was the seventh of eight children. Roy’s heart belonged in Hibbing, and besides his dedication and love of family, he had a lifelong love of playing softball. He also thoroughly enjoyed darts and golf. He graduated from Hibbing High School and Hibbing Community College.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teri; four sons: Jacob (Erika), Daniel (Sharon), Nathan and Eric; three daughters: Rena and Megan Gustavsson and Allison Maier; two grandchildren, Jackson and Talan; two brothers, Knute (Peggy) and Dale; five sisters: Karen Gustavsson, Judy (Bob) Erickson, Linda Swanson, Carol (Ron) Cackoski and Jill (Don) Ostermann; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his father in 1977; his, mother in 2005; and a brother-in-law, Clifford Swanson in 2008.
A memorial open house visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. Refreshments will be served. At 5 p.m. friends and family will have an opportunity to eulogize Roy by sharing their fondest memories and stories.
