Roy R. "Bud" Johnson, 85, Pengilly, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, died peacefully Monday, October 7, 2013, at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing. He was born to Carl and Wilma Johnson on June 5, 1928, in Lennox, SD.  The family moved to their farm in the Pequot Lakes, MN area where he grew up.  Bud enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and served at the tailend of WWII in Corpus Christi, TX. After Agricultural School he moved to the Iron Range where he met his bride, Charlene (nee D'Alessio), and they were married on August 14, 1954.  They built their home on Swan Lake and raised their family.  Bud retired from National Steel in 1985 as a foreman in the Carpenter Shop after 35 years of service at M. A. Hanna and National. He was a member of the Nashwauk Lodge #331 A.F. & A.M., Hibbing Lodge of Perfection, All Scottish Rite Bodies of Duluth, Aad Temple Shrine, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Hanna Retirees Club. He was also a member of the Nashwauk American Legion and the Nashwauk Lutheran Church.  Bud was a patriot, a skilled carpenter, farmer at heart and a true jack-of-all trades.

Bud is survived by his wife, Charlene; children Kevin (Linda) Johnson, Goodland, MN; Shelley (Mike) Swanson, Hamel, MN; and Vicki (Mark) Pierce, Brooklyn Park, MN; six grandchildren, Holly (Bryce), Lee (Chelsea), Ryan (Iselda), Tara (John), Shayla and Ben; six great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Keynan, Bristol, Audrey, Drake and Noelle; sister Darlene Chapman; brother Robert "Bob" Johnson; and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He's preceded in death by his parents; sisters Delpha, Norma, Helen, Betty and Mavis; brothers Kenny, Dale and Lester.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Nashwauk Lutheran church with the Rev. Aaron Lofgren officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service.  Burial to follow at the Nashwauk Cemetery.  A luncheon will be served at the church social hall.
