Ruth Ann Brooks
Ruth Ann Brooks, 92, Buck Lake, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Fairview University Medical Center—Mesabi, Hibbing. She was born on Oct. 22, 1920, in Duluth to John and Mary Fogel. Ruth grew up in Hibbing and graduated from Hibbing High School and Hibbing Junior College. She was united in marriage to George Brooks on April 4, 1941, in Oliver, WI and spent most of her life in the Buck Lake Area. Ruth was a charter member of the Buck Lake Improvement Club, a member of the Buck Lake Senior Citizens and St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church where she was active in the church circles. She loved to spend time with family and friends and was known for baking wedding cakes, and her flower gardens. Her hobbies were sewing, knitting, and crocheting.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Candy) Brooks of Buck Lake and Kurt (Sue) Brooks of Duluth; a daughter, Ruth (Ken) Sample of Amery, WI; a daughter-in-law, Virginia “Ginger” Brooks of Duluth; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1988; by a son, George Brooks; by infant twins Karen and Kenneth; by a grandson, Stephen Sample; and by her sister, Margaret Kilby.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 9, 2013, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.
