Ruth  Dean

Ruth M. Dean, 85, longtime resident of Hibbing died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids, MN.  She was born on September 28, 1931 to George and Mary M. (Schlups) Yonushatis in Chicago, IL. Ruth worked at the old Hibbing General Hospital as a switchboard operator from 1968-1976. Ruth later went to work at Hibbing taconite Company from 1976 to 1990 when she retired.  Ruth was one of the first women to work at Hibbing Taconite as portrayed in the movie North Country.  After retirement she donated her time as a volunteer to many organizations including: the Hibbing animal shelter, hull rust mines, Iron world, and greyhound bus museum.
Her hobbies included gardening, feeding the birds, and bowling in leagues like the Friday PM women’s bowling league.
Ruth also was a regular 1 st place winner in the senior division of the 1 st Avenue Mile Race and loved it! Ruth wants to be remembered for her “Libra Beliefs” which is balancing of the scales. Be kind to everyone we are only here for a short time and don’t be selfish.

She is survived by her children, Deb (Dennis) Kramarich, Plymouth, MN, Michelle LaFrance, Lake Oswego, OR, and Jeff LaFrance, St. Bonifacius, MN, two brothers, two grandchildren, Derek and Colin Kramarich, both of Plymouth, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Annie, Alma and Martha, and her precious doggie, Jasper who was put to sleep on August 17, 2015.

I wish for no funeral service or memorial service.  Just remember me as a kind person.”  If you so desire, make a donation to the Hibbing Animal shelter in memory of me.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
