Ruth Ann Hanley 

(June 1935 – January 2024)

Ruth Ann Hanley of Hibbing passed Tuesday, January 30 th, 2024 at Cornerstone Villa with her daughter by her side. She was born June 30 th, 1935 to William and Mary (Repesh) Gutzwiller in Hibbing. Ruth married Jim Hanley on July 24, 1987. They enjoyed traveling with friends and family, being outside working in the yard, and taking walks with their favorite 4-legged friends Maggie and Daisy. Ruth worked various jobs throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, walking, and good books. She was an avid sports enthusiast, especially when it came to watching her grandsons.

She is survived by her daughter Patty(Mike) Modich, grandchildren Michael(Jen) and Christopher(Kristine), and her great-grandchildren Mia and Mason (Michael/Jen) and Christopher Louie and Piper(Christopher/Kristine), and sister Sandy Gutzwiller of Brooklyn Park, sister-in-law, Cay Hanley, brother-in-law, Larry Ocshner, her best friend Braun and bonus granddaughter Hunter, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, and four sisters Kathryn Kennedy, Florence Techar, Helen Kelly, and Louise Ochsner.

We cannot thank Dr. Kasey Kapella, Hillary Zupin NP, and the staff at Cornerstone Villa for their kindness and compassion over the last 4 years. Sheila, Lea, Renee, Molly, Stacy, there are too many to name.

Ruth was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, and she will have a gravesite interment in the spring at the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  

Arrangements are made with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. 

Memorials are preferred to Fairview Range Home Care and Hospice or Range Regional Animal Rescue.
