            Ruth M. Bussey, 82, longtime resident of Hibbing died Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing, MN.  She was born December 21, 1941 to Leonard “Pete” and Irene Karels in New Germany, MN.  She entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Charles “Chuck” Bussey on July 30, 1966 in Minneapolis, MN.  Ruth was employed with various places throughout her career.  She worked for Range Propane and Gas Company, Jerry Thornton Insurance Agency, and her longest position was in the Lab at National Steel Pellet Co. to name a few.  She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing, local coffee clubs, and the Our Savior’s Lutheran Quilting club.  Ruth loved sewing, doing crafts, baking, and reading as her favorite pastimes. 

            She is survived by her husband of 57 + years, Chuck Bussey of Hibbing, MN, her two children, Jeffery (Diana) Bussey, Hastings, MN, and Sherri (Tom Palkowski) Anderson, Inver Grove Heights, MN, her siblings, Carol (Keith) Morhbacher, Chaska, MN, Roger Karels, Waconia, MN, and Chuck Karels, Apple Valley, MN, five grandchildren, Ryan (Mara) Bussey, Edina, MN, Andrew Bussey, Eagan, MN, Danielle Anderson, Minneapolis, MN, Joey Anderson, St. Louis Park, MN, and Olivia Anderson, Minneapolis, MN, along with many nieces and nephews.

            Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard “Pete” and Irene Karels, and her siblings, Jimmy, Donald, and Francis Karels, and Donna Sluka.

            Funeral services for Ruth will be 11:30 am, Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Bill Skarich will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the 11:30 funeral Mass at the church on Thursday.  A spring interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Bloomington, MN.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
