Santina A. Baratto, 95, Hibbing died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born on April 11, 1922 to Domenic and Angeline (Gilberta) Sarago in Nashwauk, MN. She graduated for Nashwauk High School in 1940. During her lifetime, she was employed at various places. She worked in the ore mines at Butler Brothers, a nurses’ aide at Hibbing General Hospital, sales clerk at JC Penny’s, Sunrise Bakery, and at Montgomery Ward. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.
Santina is survived by her son Jack Baratto, Hibbing, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Baratto, parents Domenic and Angeline, husband, Peter Baratto in 2007, 4 brothers, Robert, Joe, John, and Frank Sarago, and 3 sisters, Victoria Bennett (Toledo), Antoinette Dasovich, and Mary Sarago.
Funeral services for Santina will be 11:00am, Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Beau Braun will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Pallbearers are; Joey Jerkovich, Barb Baratto, Mike Pingatore, Frank Pingatore, Tom Sarago, and Angela Jagan. Honorary Pallbearers include; Mary Ann Konesky-Wahl, Mary Beth Chamernick, Clarice Killian, David Bennett, Eunice Brant, Renee Whitlock, Nancy Sarago Turchi, and Mary Ann Hydukovich. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
