Sara Jean Maki
Sara J. Maki, 82, longtime resident of Keewatin died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born on February 13, 1932 to Owen and Flossie E. (Hanmer) Farrell in Hibbing. Sara married Robert Norman Maki in 1951. Sara loved baking, cooking, going to the casinos, shopping, traveling, and going to horse shows, but most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her six children, Terrance Maki, Keewatin, MN, Greg (Teri) Maki, Nashwauk, MN, Jay Maki, Hibbing, MN, Jill (Joseph) DeNucci, Nashwauk, MN, Susan (David) Stalboerger, Keewatin, MN, and Gail (Kurt) Mohawk, Hibbing, her brother, Donald “Chum” Farrell, Hibbing, three sisters, Patricia (Bob) Cafourek, Anchorage, AK, Geraldine Kammermeyer, Little Falls, MN, and Mary Jane Johnson, Pengilly, MN, ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Norman Jr., husband, Robert N. Maki in 1973, her parents, Owen and Flossie E. (Hanmer) Farrell, three brothers, Owen, John and Thomas Farrell, and her sister, Gwenith Thronson.
Funeral services for Sara will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Hibbing Alliance Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Kevin Norton will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday. A spring interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
