Stephen J. Rabbers, 61, Virginia, MN, died Fri. May 17, 2013 in Duluth, MN. He was born July 11, 1951 in Hibbing, the son of George and Arlene Rabbers. He was an Army veteran during the Vietnam War and then became a lab technician working in hospitals in Aurora, MN and Perham, MN. Stephan then worked in a variety of occupations including water treatment sales and owning a motel with a lounge and bowling alley. His charisma and humor served him well in everything he did. While living in Hibbing, Stephen owned Steve’s Scorecard Bar and while in Virginia he owned the East Range Satellite company. When not spending time with his family, Steve liked to bowl, fish, golf, travel, watch sports or spend time with his friends at Popper’s in Virginia, MN.
He is survived by his children Nikki (Mike) Gebhart of Grand Rapids, MN, Stephanie Rabbers of Grand Rapids and Joseph (Tracy) Rabbers of Cohasset, MN, his siblings: and 6 grandchildren: Madison and Brinley, Kayhlee and Kruz and Jaxon and Tyson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed. May 22, 2013 in the Open Door Church, Hibbing. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Dougherty Funeral Home and Wednesday in the church from 10 until service time. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
