Thomas J. “Ruggy” Rutherford
Thomas J. “Ruggy” Rutherford, 62, lifelong Hibbing resident lost his courageous battle with cancer on December 8, 2012. Tom was born in Hibbing to Joseph and Shirley Rutherford on November 24, 1950. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served from December 30, 1969 to December 10, 1971. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing canoeing, anything to do with the outdoors. He was employed with Hibbing Tac as a Crane Operator and was formerly with the Hibbing Fire Department. Tom was a great storyteller and was known to tell a few jokes. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
Tom will be missed by his wife Eve, children, Chad (Jessie) Rutherford, Joe (Beckie) Rutherford, Mike Rutherford, and Carly (Derek) Bautch, all of Hibbing, grandchildren, Derek Jr., Jack and Max Bautch, Cody and Tyler Rutherford, and Ilexa Rutherford, three sisters, Sue (Terry) Thomsen, Cloverdale, Cindy (George) Skurich, Perch Lake, and Jody (Steve Dewar) Rutherford, Pengilly, and his dog, Aggie Mae. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Rutherford, father in law, George Betters, and brother in law Gordon Betters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am., Thursday, December 13, 2012 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with visitation Wednesday in the Dougherty Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday in the Church at 9:30 am. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the
VFW 8510 Honor Guard.
