Thomas J. Sullivan Sr.
Thomas J. Sullivan Sr., 91, Hibbing, died Wed. June 28, 2017 in the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center, Hibbing. He was born Oct. 4, 1925 in Hibbing, the son of William and Rose Sullivan. He was a lifelong resident of Hibbing, and served as a merchant marine during World War II. He married Florence Pocrnich on April 30, 1969 and had owned and operated Sullivan Candy and Supply for many years. He never truly retired as he was still signing checks and talking business daily. Tom loved watching his grandchildren’s activities, especially the Hibbing Bluejackets. He was a proud supporter of Hibbing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Hibbing Athletic Assoc. We would like to thank the incredible, loving staff of Guardian Angels for all they did for Tom during the last five years. You truly were family. We also extend a special thank you to Karen and Kevin.
He is survived by his children: Tom (Mary Jo) Sullivan Jr. and Laurie (Scott) Allison, both of Hibbing, and 6 grandchildren: A.J. Allison, Ben Allison, Michael Sullivan, Sophia Sullivan, Joe Allison and Abigail Sullivan..
He was preceded in death by his wife Florence in 2008 and his brothers Lee and Bill.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 Saturday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hibbing. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Tom and Florence Memorial Hockey Scholarship Fund.
