Vera D. Denne
Vera D. (Rohde) Denne, 88, longtime resident of Nashwauk, died Wednesday July 26, 2017 at Heritage Manor in Chisholm. Vera was born To Edward and Vivian (Walker) Rohde on April 16, 1929 in Grey Eagle, MN. She entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Verner Denne on June 3, 1947. Together they made their home in Nashwauk where they spent 65 years until his passing in 2012. She was employed in operations with Butler Taconite, and later National Steel, retiring after 16 years of service. Vera was a member of the St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. She enjoyed ceramics, and listening to country music while swinging in her outdoor swing.
Vera is survived by her son Richard (Karen) Denne of Keewatin, MN; daughters Caron (Jim) Lukken of Silver Bay, MN, and Kathleen (Gary) Pulis of Mounds View, MN; 5 granddaughers : Laurie (Mike) Kelley, Cloquet, MN, Denise (Shane) Petrich, Arden Hills, MN, Sharon (Jake) Christianson, Blaine, MN, Jessica (Tony) Hanson, Hibbing, MN, and Kathryn (Justin) Sarff, Zimmerman, MN; her grandson, Jason (Carol) Denne, Plainfield, IL; 12 great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Caitlyn, and Brianna Kelley, Hannah, Maggie, and Sofia Breuer, Connor and Aidan Petrich, Bryce Denne, Morgan, Bazel and Evan Hanson, and one great-grandson on the way; one great-great-grandson, James Sotherton, siblings: Gerald (Luetta), Harold (Pat), and Linda Rohde, June Waldvogel all of Grey Eagle, MN, and Lorraine Denne of Sauk Rapids, MN.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Verner, her parents, granddaughter, Lisa Breuer, 2 brothers Glen and David Rohde, and 2 sisters LaVerna Rohde, and Virginia Denne.
Funeral services for Vera will be 11:00 am, Monday July 31, 2017 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN. The Rev. Fr. Seth Gogolin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery of Nashwauk, MN. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
