Victor D. Emanuel Jr.
Victor D. Emanuel Jr., 87, lifelong resident of Keewatin, died Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on May 11, 1927, to Victor and Spina (Spadacinni) Emanuel in Hibbing. Victor graduated from high school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he proudly served his country. After the war he entered the sacrament of Marriage on June 10, 1950, to Patricia E. Ylatupa. Victor was employed as an auto mechanic for Hibbing Taconite. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keewatin, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. He enjoyed jewelry making, wintering in Arizona, deer hunting, woodworking, and especially loved spending time at the cabin.
He is survived by his four children: Bob (Veda) Emanuel, Hibbing, Gary Emanuel, Keewatin, Gail (Clint) Tuve, Aurora, MN, and Brian (Kristen) Emanuel, Hibbing; his sister, Pauline White, Springfield, IL; five grandchildren: Nicole (Eric) Lange, Proctor, MN, Emily (Nathan) Goltz, St. Paul, Michelle (Blake) Peterson, Two Harbors, MN, Melanie (Mary Dye) Tuve, Minneapolis, MN, Kayla Emanuel, Hibbing; two step-grandchildren, Tammy Foster and Christopher Manska, both of Chisholm, six, great-grandchildren, Elsa, Cade, Kallan, Svea, Jersey, and Colleen, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Spina, wife, Patricia Emanuel in September of 2014, and his sister, Florence Suonvieri.
A private funeral service will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hibbing for Victor. The Rev. Fr. Brian Lederer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
