Waino E. Jussila, 97, Grand Rapids, formerly of Cedar Valley, died Wednesday, December, 9, 2015, at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids. He was born at home in Cedar Valley, MN to Samuel and Elina (Niemi) Jussila on June 29, 1918. He married Mabel E. Niemi in 1940, and celebrated 70 years together in 2010. He was a member of Cedar Valley Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his children: Dennis (Linda) Jussila, Two Harbors, Roland (Susan) Jussila, Cedar Valley, Jack Jussila, Hermantown, and Ann Jussila, Alexandria, MN; his sister, Vilma Eck, Duluth; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel; his parents; and siblings Vieno Kilpo, Vivian Bimberg, Vera Jussila, Bill Jussila, Arnie Jussila and Sigrid Herrala.
Funeral services for Waino will be 11 AM on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at New Life Community Church in Floodwood, MN. The Rev. Dan Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be in church on Saturday for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Cedar Valley Cemetery, Cedar Valley, MN. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.
