Wayne Maurice Jensen, 72, passed away peacefully from his courageous battle with cancer at home with his loving family by his side on
Wednesday, April 20, 2016
in Hibbing MN.
He was born May 20, 1943 to Verner and Pearl Jensen in Hurley SD. He moved with his family to Hibbing in the early 1950's. He attended Hibbing schools and served in the US Navy from 1961-1963. He was a Boatswain's Mate Third Class. After serving in the Navy he returned to the Iron Range. He was united in marriage to Eileen Case on October 7, 1994.
He apprenticed as a carpenter and became a journeyman with Max Gray working range-wide construction projects. He retired from Hibbing/Chisholm Housing Authority in 1998. His love was country music. He became an accomplished singer musician performing range wide for many years. He played in the "Loose Ends" band with lifetime friend, of fifty years, Roy Ridlon. Wayne was a fierce "dart" competitor playing in the national competition in Las Vegas and won many awards and trophy's locally. He enjoyed fishing and attending family gatherings. His outstanding sense of humor and quick wit was always welcome by everyone.
He is preceded in death by second wife, Judi; parents Verner and Pearl Jensen; sister's Isla Mae Heitman and Stella Jaynes; brothers LaVern and Verner; son Terrance Case; grandson Jacob Case; brother-in-laws Jack Schulte and Rudy Rajkovich.
He is survived by his loving wife Eileen, daughters Tracy (Mike) Woolley - Pengilly, MN, Carrie (Sean) Flynn - New Jersey and Tina McCauley - Pengilly; sons Bob (Joe) Tilden - New York, Monte (Kim) Jensen - Grand Rapids, MN Darin (Tami) Jensen - Alaska, Aaron (Carrie) Case - Hibbing; 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friend Roy (Sharon) Ridlon. Sisters Sylvia (Hilding) Helgren - Grand Rapids, MN, Verna Rajkovich and Dona (Loren) DuFault - Hibbing, Ilene (Patrick) Hughes - Lonsdale, MN and Gloria (Loren) Kantola – Bovey, MN.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at Dougherty Funeral Home on
Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Internment will take place in the Veteran's section at Maple Hill Cemetery following service with military honors
.
