William Hammerbeck, Sr., 77, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 in Hibbing.
Bill was a true Ranger.  He was born in Hibbing, MN on December 3, 1935 to Arthur and Ida (Isaacson ) Hammerbeck.  He grew up in Hibbing and attended Hibbing schools.  Bill was a hard, devoted worker all of his life.  Bill worked for National Steel as a maintenance mechanic, retiring after 41 years of service. Bill's hobbies included home improvements of all kinds.  Bill was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church; a member of The Elks Club; and a member of the Hibbing Rifle Club.  Bill was a strong man, yet so gentle.  He loved his family dearly.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children LeeAnn (Kevin) Thomas of Eagan, Laura (Tim) Carlson of Carver, Lisa (Mike) Hudson of Eden Prairie, Linda (Mark) Sitko of St. Paul, and William Hammerbeck, Jr. of Hibbing; step children:  Kevin (Renee') Schiltz of Hibbing, Karlyn Schiltz (Daren Collyard) of Hibbing, and Gretchen (Lee) Gilbertson of Apple Valley; grandchildren: Sophia, Jacey, Eden, Thomas, Luke, Trevor, Nicole (Jake), Sam, Jordan and Sydney; and great grandchild Nolan.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ida Hammerbeck.

Per Bill’s request, there will be a family funeral held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing.  Rev.
