William Wherland

William Roy “Bill” Wherland
William R. “Bill” Wherland, 89, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.  He was born on October 8, 1922 to Roy and Mae (Auger) Wherland in Hibbing.  Bill was employed as a truck driver for F.H. Bathke.  He was a member of the Hibbing Catholic Community.  Bill had many hobbies that included building or fixing various things.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his earlier years.
He is survived by his son, Roger (Jean) Wherland, Anoka, MN., daughter, Bernice (Lonney) Sauter, Hibbing, brother, Dwight (Mary) Wherland, sisters, Marcella Aslakson, and Patricia Capanoli, all of Hibbing, his five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his special friend, Elizabeth Winchester, Hibbing, many nieces, nephews, his beloved dog, Teddy Girl, and beloved cat, Scooter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Symitczek) Wherland in 1999, daughter, Gail Wherland, his parents, and brother, John Wherland.
Funeral services for William will be held at 11:00am, Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
